Vocabulary Expansion

Vocabulary expansion, then, is paramount. As Munger put it: you must be multi-disciplinary. Language is the blocker to understanding. If you hear certain terms and kick them around in your head enough times, you will gain an intuition of what you are modeling through that process.

Many founders and successful VCs came from the investment banking space for a reason. If you have been looking at energy charts all day, they eventually start to speak to you. The charts speak only in complaints and adulation. There are treasures to be had in mapping out how to alleviate the complaints and keep the adulation coming.

Modeling solutions for cooling issues in data centers has pre-requisites. It is useless to talk about 3M Novec with no understanding of the two elements in H₂O. The beauty though is going through that learning process allows you to see the world in a different way. Learning takes less time than you would initially expect. Understanding though, takes lifetimes.
